      Bequests/Wills

Phil and Nan have been faithful supporters of Special Olympics Missouri, and they want to include the SOMO Endowment Fund in their wills. So they made a pledge to make a more meaningful legacy.  Here's how they did it:

Phil: Several years ago, Nan and I decided to become part of the Special Olympics mission. We believe that Special Olympics Missouri is truly helping others. We think that it is important to partner with them to make a difference. For that reason, Nan and I have made gifts over the years to help others.

Nan: We wanted to do more than to just make gifts. Phil and I have been careful over the years and have accumulated some resources. We plan to be generous with family, but we also have the ability to be generous with charity.

We knew we wanted to leave a bequest in our will. But we wanted Special Olympics to know of our intention. So we made a pledge to include the SOMO Endowment Fund in our will. It gave us a wonderful feeling and they were thrilled to know -- most people who name a charity in their wills don't let the charity know first. But it really helps them to know in advance -- I've been on charity boards and knew our pledge would make a difference.

Phil:  Our attorney took the simple language available from Special Olympics Missouri and included a nice bequest. It was a very simple process and very rewarding to us. We're delighted that we'll be helping others through Special Olympics Missouri.
